Army Veterinary Corps Cap Badge.

Charles had been living at Woodhouse Lane, Dawley with his wife Emma and two children when he enlisted but she moved to 12 King Street, Broseley after his death.

Charles had served for 15 months in France before going to Italy and whilst there had been admitted to hospital (Reasons unknown). He had come home on leave and whilst at home had walked back from Wellington with a friend, but within 3 or 4 days had fallen ill and died.

A report appeared in the Journal about his death and this appealed for people of a kindly disposition to convey stranded soldiers to their homes so not to have a repeat of Charles death.
